A touch of Disney and 2 cruises in a week! Day at Sea and Debarkation

Image
Tuesday We both slept really well and barely noticed any movement at all during the night. We got up and headed for breakfast in Lumieres at about 0930, I had Mickey Waffles and fruit plus a cinnamon roll. Rob decided on an omelette plus a blueberry muffin. Coffee and tea was supplied and topped up regularly, we had different servers this morning but service was still incredibly good. After breakfast we went looking for the shops - there had been a long queue on night 1 but thankfully not now. We looked in both shops and decided on a t shirt each plus a pin (there was a very limited selection which was a shame) and we got the cruise bag too! We dropped our shopping back to the room and explored deck 9 and 10 a little further. The sun was out but it was a little breezy, not bad though for Sept! We eventually got sandwiches for lunch from Daisy’s (I think) and I think Rob got a slice of pizza. At 2 we went to the theatre to watch the new marvel movie Shang-Chi and The Legend of The Ten R...

A touch of Disney and 2 cruises in a week! Travel and Embarkation Day

Image
Sunday - Travel Day We did our usual pre-travel cleaning and left our house at 1300, we had decided to take our Skoda Citigo EV so we stopped at Starbucks near Fleet (not the actual M3 services) to charge the car. We thought we would just about reach our destination without charging but had decided not to risk it. I got my first pumpkin spice latte and we picked up some snacks in the nearby garage. After about 45 mins we carried on (this cost us around £4.50 but we got a referral credit which meant it was actually free), traffic wasn’t too bad until the M25 when we stopped as is typical - luckily this means the car used less battery for this portion of the trip. We arrived at Doubletree Dartford which we had booked using Hilton points and had some dinner in the hotel. We both had burgers with chips and then had our free cookie for dessert. The food was ok, not especially exciting but traffic in the area was dreadful so we didn't want to explore any further. We watched The Greatest ...

A touch of Disney and 2 cruises in a week! Pre Trip

Last November when we assumed that 2021 would bring better things we booked flights for a 3 week long Florida trip in September.  As we had been fully vaccinated in June 2021 we anticipated foreign travel to be more straightforward as the year went on and so were quite positive that the US travel ban would be lifted. Unfortunately, as we got closer and closer it became clear that wasn't going to happen and in August our flights were cancelled - we have moved them to June 2022 and will keep our fingers crossed. We then started looking at alternative options and considered both Jamaica and Barbados. Jamaica unfortunately was ruled out when the FCDO advised against non essential travel. Barbados looked appealing but we were a little worried about their COVID rules if we were unlucky enough to test positive while on our trip. So we decided to stay in the UK and started looking at some of the cruises which are available this year. We liked the look of the Disney cruises but they were qu...
