Barcelona and Greece 2014: Thursday
After
our late night at the wedding we decided not to set an alarm this morning. We
ended up waking too late for breakfast.
We went a little way and found this church and then some more ruins :)
Afterwards
we wandered around Larissa for a little longer before heading back to the
hotel. We stopped at a supermarket to pick up some sweets to take back to work
and I found these:
I
searched on the internet for local attractions and discovered that there was
some kind of ancient theatre in Larissa. So I put the address into the sat nav
and we headed into town.
A
couple of circuits of the town centre and we managed to find a place to park
the car – it was a multi-story which had some really narrow gaps!
We
added the car park to the sat nav so we wouldn’t lose the car. Into a nearby
square and we ended up having lunch in a place called Goodys (seems to be a
Greek version of McDonalds).
After
lunch we used the sat nav to locate the ancient theatre – it was actually
really close by!
They
seemed to be doing some kind of renovation so you couldn’t go into the actual
area that the theatre was located in (don’t know if you ever could). We took a
few photos and then went for a look around.
We went a little way and found this church and then some more ruins :)
We
had a rest at the hotel as we were hoping to go to dinner with Becky, George
and a few others later in Trikala. We got a text to say we were meeting around
9.15 at the apartment so we left around 7.30 and headed across.
Parking
was difficult in Trikala and we had to make a slightly unorthodox manoeuvre to finally
nab a space.
Across
to the apartment and we met up with the others. Dinner had snowballed a little
bit as we were now meeting up with some of the Greeks. A table had been booked
for around 8 people and we ended up as a group of 18!
We
went to a restaurant outside of Trikala and were told that the pizza was really
good. At our end of the table we decided to order 3 pizzas, a greek salad and
fries between 6 of us....
The
pizzas were massive and really good! We didn’t quite manage all of ours though
so the leftover pizza was boxed up to takeaway. We had also had 10 soft drinks
between us and so were gobsmacked when we were told that the bill was €36!
We
decided that we would pay €50 – the guy reminded us that he had said €36 and we
explained that we were happy to pay €50 and he smiled :)
We headed back to Larissa - not quite such a late night this time :)
