Not another holiday... ! A relaxing trip to Barbados Day 6


Sat 6th Sept

We went downstairs slightly later to breakfast this morning and it appears as though the whole world has descended on the hotel. We got a table quickly enough but Rob had to wait about 20 mins for an omelette today! There was a massusive line!

After breakfast we decided to visit the Sheraton Mall. Got there and it was not quite what we expected.
They did have a Courts which sells furniture etc just like we used to have in the UK. Rob wanted to buy some giant speakers to bring home cos they were so retro!

We did manage to buy me a hairbrush as I had not been able to find mine since we arrived and then we headed back to the hotel.

We decided to watch the first US Open semi on TV before facetiming Rob’s mum quickly and then we went to get cake and drinks in the lounge.

It was a little bit overcast so we decided against the pool/beach and in the end we watched the second semi too. We were surprisingly wrong about the result of both matches (as I suspect were lots of people).

We found a restaurant nearby called 39 steps and decided to head there for dinner...we got there and it was in darkness so we went to Mama Mia’s instead.
Very odd tables and chairs (a bit like being in the kitchen back in the 80s) but the restaurant was good. Rob had a M E A T T T Y pizza and I had a chicken pasta.



I decided on chocolate cheesecake for dessert and Rob wanted chocolate fondant cake but they didn’t have any left
:(

In the end he had the same as me, and we both added a scoop of vanilla ice cream cos who has cake without ice cream?! It was fab :)

Tuesday This morning we had breakfast at 0830 before getting ready to leave the ship for a few hours. I had a fruit plate and toast and I'm sure Rob had an omelette but I don't seem to have taken a photo. We took the shuttle into Belfast which was $15 each, oddly (with all the enforced distancing on board) we were reasonably well packed into our bus and apparently some people couldn't wear masks despite being reminded that NI still required them. We walked from the tourist info centre towards the waterfront and the sun even came out for a little bit. We found a shopping centre and took a look in a few stores, although we didn't buy anything. We walked around for a while longer - Rob used to travel to Belfast regularly for work so wanted to show me a few places. We decided on Five Guys for lunch (a little taste of the USA) as we don't have one any where near us; it was good but the fries were a bit too salty. A touch of Disney and 2 cruises in a week! Day 4 - 1st day at Liverpool

Wednesday This morning we had an even later start - we arrived in Liverpool at around 0800 not that we were really aware of the ship docking. We had breakfast in the Windjammer as we were too late for the MDR, the food was good but it was a little noisy so we planned to go back to the MDR for the next day. For some reason I have forgotten photos again - Rob had an omelette and I had toast and some fruit and yoghurt. After breakfast we enquired about booking Coastal Kitchen for dinner - as we were in a Junior Suite we could only book dinner and only if they had space (but of course numbers on this cruise were so low that they had space!) We wandered around the ship and got coffee which we drank in Two70 - I'm fairly sure we watched some performers rehearsing. We had an appointment at the ‘next cruise’ desk at 1130, not really sure what the point of booking was as we waited 20 mins past our time before someone was available, we got prices for several options (Alaska, Florida and a cr...

A touch of Disney and 2 cruises in a week! Day 2 (At Sea)

Monday We had a little lie in today, and headed down to breakfast at 0930. The staff appeared happy to have some guests to look after (I think we had about 6 people looking after us) and we were quickly supplied with coffee, tea and pastries. We browsed the menu and I selected French toast whilst Rob had an omelette. During our meal we were checked on regularly and my coffee was kept topped up. While we were there Head Waiter Edwin booked us Chops Grille and Jamie’s (at a cost of $80 each) which was great - Rob had been keen to try Chops but we hadn't really wanted to pay $55 each for 1 meal. We picked up a cappuccino for me on the way back to our room, then lazed about for a little while. We then popped to the shops and casino (where we successfully lost our free $4 credit) and went to a jewellery ‘talk’.
